Standard solid polycarbonate sheets have a surface hardness of approximately 2B, which means the material is inherently susceptible to surface scratches under mechanical contact or abrasive conditions. Like most transparent thermoplastic materials, surface abrasion may occur during installation, cleaning, or long-term use in exposed environments.
To address different levels of scratch resistance requirements, GWX provides several surface treatment solutions. One option is the application of a dedicated anti-scratch coating, which enhances surface hardness and improves resistance to everyday abrasion. Another option is the use of co-extruded acrylic surface technology, which forms a harder protective layer on the sheet surface during production.
Through these surface enhancement processes, the hardness level of the sheet can be improved up to approximately 2H grade, significantly increasing resistance to scratching and surface wear. This helps maintain optical clarity and appearance over a longer service period, especially in applications with frequent contact or environmental exposure.
